Shiner Dortmunder

Spring is here and with it the latest batch of seasonal beers.  This weeks beer is the Shiner Dortmunder from the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, TX.

The Dortmunder name is probably a reference to the German lager brewed in the town of Dortmund, although the Shiner is an ale.

The beer pours out a rich, golden lager color, but is light like an ale.  There are hints of spices in this beer that feel a little more like a fall than a spring to me, but they are subtle and don't make the taste too busy.  Overall, it's an excellent addition to the Shiner line and nicely welcomes in the season.
